Originally conceived in 2003 for a solo exhibition at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, The Attenders by Sharon Louden consists of more than 5 million feet of monofilament wire (fishing line). It was acquired in 2004 by the Progressive Corporation, which owns one of the largest corporate collections of contemporary art in the U.S., for their permanent collection and reconfigured over the years. Evolving from its original location in their Phoenix, Arizona call center to its present location in the entrance of their Tampa, Florida call center, the installation is now comprised of over 75 component sculptures ranging in length from 4 to 25 feet hanging in a 600 square foot lobby with a 50 foot ceiling.
