Cheryl Numark has been in the art world for over 25 years, the first 12 years as owner and director of Numark Gallery, the premiere art gallery in Washington, D.C., and the past 13 years as an international art advisor, working with private, public and corporate clients.
Cheryl Numark's clients include numerous top-level collectors and corporations in Washington, D.C. and internationally. She has sold works of art to many major museums worldwide.
Cheryl Numark graduated from the University of Chicago,BA 1979, majoring in English Literature, where she was editor-in-chief of The Chicago Review, a contemporary literary magazine. After college she moved to New York and worked as an assistant editor at George Braziller, an art book publisher, and St. Martins Press. She went to law school at the University of Pennsylvania, JD 1986, and practiced communications and mass media law in her hometown of Washington D.C. for seven years. In 1993, she left the law to pursue her true passion in the contemporary art world, with plans to open a contemporary art gallery. Opening in 1995, the Numark Gallery was the premier gallery for contemporary art in Washington D.C. for twelve years. Cheryl has been President of Cheryl Numark Art Advisory since 2008.
